To generate a user instance of sql server due to a failure in starting the process

  • you might need to delete the SQLEXPRESSdirectory
Follow the Step for deleting the sqlexpressdirectory
C:Documents and SettingsusernameLocal SettingsApplication DataMicrosoftMicrosoft SQL Server DataSQLEXPRESSdirectory. 
Then restart your machine.
